This is a french folk tale in which a king has a daughter to marry off but he does not want to. Every body keeps pushing him until he comes up with a plan. He will let a man marry her if he can build a boat that can sail on both land and water. a boy hears of the task and tries but on the way to build the boat he meets an old witch and is not kind to her so everything he makes turns to skittles. The boy goes home frustrated and tells his little brother to try to make the boat. On his way he meets the same witch and is kind so she gives him a blessing and the boat makes its self. Now the boy sails the boat to the castle on the way he picks up six men skilled in complete different areas. when he arrives at the castle the king gives him tasks which all of the men help him complete. they get married but the king is not happy so he pursues the boy but the men stop the king and the king finally gets over himself and they all live happily ever after.
Some of the universal archetypes in this story are the witch who in reality is kind and could show that we should not judge people. Another would be the six men who could represent friendship and how friends can help you through hard times. Also the idea of the boat could be symbolic for faith and that with it we can acomplish anything.
I think this specificly applies to me because for one I am French and also it reminds me how important it is to be kind and how we should give everybody the benifit of the doubt because if we don't we might regret it later( im talking from experience).
